Almost all my photography begins with an exploration of the location which eventually leads to the placement of my tripod. The play of light, shadow and erosion caused by wind and rain accompanies my journey. The photographs of these venerable places, some dating back hundreds of years, the compositional challenges; the spatial elements, half-hidden in nature confirm that there is always more than we know, more grace and more mystery. It is out of this intersection between the journey and a place that my photographs are born.
