I create images that celebrate the spirit and beauty of the American Landscape, and like my father before me, photography is my passion and my career. I favor a fine art style, choosing to appeal to buyers of framed photography. I was taught by my mentor the true understanding of light, because the only thing that film emulsion or digital sensors record is light levels. My mentor also taught me about the relationships of lines, forms and colors within the viewfinder. I seek to create pictures in camera, opting not to digitally alter them afterwards. I process everything in Adobe Lightroom, and I apply any controls in a sensible, subtle, meaningful manner. I rarely use Photoshop as I prefer to keep my images as natural as possible. My photographs retain their natural realism at the moment of capture, which is the premise of a traditional photograph.
Working from my home/studio in southern Chester County, PA, I print beautiful archival prints. Laying the ink onto a beautiful natural, heavy paper makes for a sensational visual experience. The papers I use captures my images with an unparalleled vibrancy. After printing I leave a border around the edge of the image and each piece is signed and numbered, insuring its identity and future value. Included with the print is a certificate of authenticity. For framing, I use American hardwood frames, and for matting I use crescent mat board which is 100% made in the USA. Finally, I use conservation glass because overtime acrylic is prone to scratches and is difficult to keep clean. Galleries and museums only use glass not acrylic. All those qualities do come at a cost, but it’s important to me to use the very best materials available.
I am grateful when one of my images, and the spirit in which they were crafted, resonate with you. My success has not been the result of luck, although at times I have been lucky. My success is the result of hard work and dedication. This is how I have built my career. Thank you for being a part of it all.
